Want to recover old and deleted messages on WhatsApp? Here's a quick guide

With WhatsApp messenger becoming an integral part of our daily lives, instant messaging, voice and video calls and payments are mostly done with WhatsApp. Our WhatsApp account contains crucial information related to work and business and therefore, keeping a backup of your WhatsApp information is important.

WhatsApp allows you to create a cloud backup on both Google Drive and iCloud every day at 2 AM in the morning by default. However, every time we purchase a new smartphone, we often lose all our old WhatsApp messages, images, media files, documents and video, which can be annoying.

Here's how you can recover old and deleted WhatsApp messages:

WhatsApp has no official feature that allows you to read deleted messages. However, with the help of a third-party app, Whats Removed+, you can read all the deleted WhatsApp messages. Follow these steps to recover old and recover deleted WhatsApp messages:

** You need to ensure that the chat option of your WhatsApp account is set to 'Daily' as it makes the process easy and also keeps a backup of your chats on a regular basis. When we switch to a new smartphone or delete our WhatsApp account, recovering deleted WhatsApp messages is important.

** You need to download the WhatsApp app from the Google Play store and login to your account by entering the registered phone number.

** Once you log in to your WhatsApp account, you will get an option 'Restore' all your WhatsApp chats.

** Click on the 'Restore' option and all your old and deleted will be restored on your new phone. However, if you receive any new message after the backup, then it cannot be restored.

** If you have deleted some of the WhatsApp messages by mistake and wish to restore them back, then you will have to uninstall the WhatsApp app and re-install it and follow the given steps. But you must make sure that your smartphone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network so that the restore process does not consume much of your mobile data.

WhatsApp chat backup setting:

If you want to turn on the chat backup, open your WhatsApp and go to the Settings option. Then, go to 'Chats' and tap on 'Chat backup'. You also have the option to set up the frequency of your chat backup and change the auto-chat backup setting and can select among Daily, Monthly, Weekly and OFF. But if you select OFF option, you will never be able to get access to old chats after you switch to a new smartphone.

If you are an iPhone user, then go to settings on your WhatsApp and select Chats Backup from the Chats option. Now, select the Auto Backup frequency or use the Back Up Now 'option' to manually initiate a backup.
