A List Of The Top 10 Big Names Who Went Unpicked In PSL 8 Draft

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league contested by six franchises. The PSL 8 draft was held on February 2023, with a total of 404 players being drafted overall. Many big names went unpicked in the draft, including some who have played for Pakistan's national cricket team. Here is a list of the top 10 big names who went unpicked in the PSL 8 draft.

The draft of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League was held last week in Karachi. While all the franchises have tried to find the perfect combination for their outfits, many big names remained unpicked in the draft.

Many big names went unpicked in this year's PSL draft but there are still some very good players who will be playing in this year's tournament. So, let's take a look at some of them:

1. Aaron Finch

Aaron James Finch is a Australian international cricketer who captains the Australian cricket team in T20I and formerly captained the national team in ODI cricket


2. Rassie van der Dussen

Hendrik Erasmus "Rassie" van der Dussen is a South African professional cricketer who represents the South Africa national cricket team and plays for the Highveld Lions cricket team in domestic cricket. In the 2018 South African Cricket Annual, he was named as one of the five Cricketers of the Year. 

3. Kieron Pollard

Kieron Adrian Pollard (born 12 May 1987) is a retired trinidadian cricketer. He has captained the West Indies cricket team in limited overs cricket and Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL. He is a right arm medium - fast bowling all-rounder.

4. Dawid Malan

Dawid Johannes Malan is an English cricketer who plays internationally for England in all formats. In domestic cricket, he represents Yorkshire, having previously played for Middlesex, and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues, including for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. 


5. Shakib al Hassan

Shakib Al Hasan is a Bangladeshi cricketer and current captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team in Tests and T20Is. He plays for Barishal in domestic cricket as an all-rounder.


6. Lungi Ngidi

Lungisani True-man Ngidi is a South African professional cricketer who plays for the South Africa national cricket team. In the 2018 South African Cricket Annual Awards, he was named as one of the five Cricketers of the Year.


7. Reece Topley

Reece James William Topley is an English international cricketer who plays for the England cricket team in white ball cricket as a left-arm fast medium bowler. He plays for Surrey in domestic cricket. Topley debuted for England in August 2015 against Australia.


8. Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi Eisakhil is an Afghan cricketer and former captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team. Nabi is an attacking batting all-rounder, playing as a right-handed batsman and off break bowler. He led the team to 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2024 ICC World Twenty20.

9. Ahmad Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad (Punjabi:احمد شہزاد; born 23 November 1991) is a Pakistani international cricketer. He is an opening batsman who made his One Day International and Twenty20 International debut for Pakistan in April 2009 against Australia.


10. Mohammad Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez is a former Pakistani international cricketer. Hafeez was a versatile batsman who could bat anywhere in the top 6 and formed part of the bowling attack.


While many big names have not been picked in the draft, the teams still look balanced and well-sewn with a blend of exciting local talent and world-class foreign stars. The eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League is bound to exhibit top-class cricket as it begins on 9 February 2023.
